Any one knows what I can do about it? my system is xp

Initializing first test to use userid: scott, password: tiger

ORA-01034: ORACLE not available

There may be an error in the fields entered,
or the server may not be ready for a connection.

It is Pricisely what it says.
The Server is not ready for connection.
Have u started the listener.
N tell me r u attempting to connect in ur server or from client end.
Tell me those things n I may be able to Help u.

to zeelovesu,

I have it on my personal pc, server and the client.
Every service runs, I even was able to work with my database after I installed everything. But then I had to restart the pc and that was the end of it. The Listener is running.

connect with user which is sys privalege like
"connect internal/oracle" for oracle 8i
after connecting startup your database by
"startup or startup force"
now you will connect with eney other user
