I cannot access the dba studio via OEM - it presents me with VT-440 No database has been discovered Please use Enterprise Manager consol to discover at least one database before starting applications.

In the setup / config phase the first thing I did is configured the "Oracle Management Server" which I did through the OEM Configuration Assistant. Then in the field - 'Management Server' on the console login screen I entered "sysman" and "oem_temp" and the machine name of the machine running the management server.

Where have I gone wrong??

You only login to the OMS but you have not discovered any databases yet. Try to discover these databases with Enterprise Manager. Make sure that the Intelligent agent are installed and running on the database side.

In addition to Robbie's response once you discover the node and database. Click on System on the top navigation bar and select Preferences. Go through the tabs, however, pay attention to the last tab Preferred Credentials.

Make sure you supply your login information for the node, and the database at a minimum.

Last recommendation, click on Manage Administrators under System and add yourself to the Super Administrator Account.

Apparently my Intelligent agent is not starting.

I tried lsnrctl dbsnmp_status and recieved db agent is not started. went in manually to administartive tools on the windows 2000 and services highlight Agent (OracleOra81Agent) and click start; received : -

Could not start the OracleOra81Agent service on local computer. error 3221356559

I have now resolved that VTO 4400 but have an invalid user ORA error also problem with prefered credentails. For my datasbe I have a system/manager who has sysba yet when I backup (try to) the database I get the ORA invalid user????
