hi
i'm studying for the OCP. I bought the books from sybex. i also want to train on the actual oracle software (is that needed?). do i need to download the all ORACLE database for this purpose or there is something smaller? if yes, how big is it?

If you go to the Oracle website you can download for free the personal version of Oracle 8 Lite, which is not as large as the full version. Once you install it you can create the database and create users, tablespaces, tables etc and practice your SQL.

The drawback is that Oracle Lite doesn't contain pl/sql engine thus differs from ather editions a lot. I'd suggest you to install Personal edition, as it's indeed a fully functional Oracle Database, lacked of a small number of usefull, but only for enterprize wide applications features. Regards, Dima
