We're on the point of acquiring a new HR/Payroll system. One of the products in contention is Oracle HR. We also intend to use Citrix but Oracle tell us that their applications are not supported under Citrix.

However, all the research I've done indicates that it should work fine. Does anyone have any comments about this? Is this something we should be concerned about?

I've rolled out Oracle Financials over MetaFrame - it's a bit of a resource hog, giving a cap of around 50 users per server - but I should imagine your installation will be fine.

I don't know Oracle HR, but if it's anything like Financials, you should install the software in change user /install mode, and keep the system in that mode while you make Oracle client changes (Service names, anything global to the system, etc).

Hope this helps

Hi,

I've also installed Financials and we use some other Oracle applications as well.

Although Oracle don't support Citrix, it does seem to work ok. I use 8.0.6 but that does seem slow. I use 8.1.7 and that seems better. And will be updating and testing 9.?.? when I get the software from our database people.

Try it and see, it will probably work ok!

Cheers,
Carl.

Oracle Jinitiator does not work 'out of the box'. i.e. if you want to publish a browser, instead of a thick client. Only works single user! Anyone know how to set it up?

Oracle can be a bit of a pain but follow Ogi's and it should be fine.

Please bear in mind do not use SP4 for Win2K as it breaks oracle client I believe keyboard broke ?

Cheers
Scott

It's what you do when you "read" the full set of posts properly!!!!!!!!!

Cheers,
"Ogi"

I'm sorry - but I have read this thread again and Mr Ogi has not said how to get jinitiator running properly on Citrix. Is there another thread that tells you how to get it going?

Sorry, didn't realise that!

I just installed it from a directory on one of the servers hard drives.

I've not done anything special to install it, other than being in install mode!

Have you tried installing it? What error(s) do you get?

Cheers,
Carl.

PS No need for the Mr!!!!!!!

Thanks. We have installed it, then published Internet Explorer as an application with the required home page. But only one user can use the application at a time - subsequent users get errors. I will check and see if it was installed properly, as this is the most likely option.

Are there any quirks with publishing IE that we need to be aware of?

Hi,

Other than it's a security nightmare as users can browse anywhere they want and do what they want (depending on how you lock it down)

Let us know the errors you get and I'll see if I can replicate or locate some information about them.

Cheers,
Carl.

Install Jinitiator in /install mode.
Works great.

You can lock down IE a number of ways to keep folks from using your box as a browser.

Have your network guys configure a seperate VLAN for your citrix boxes that doesn't have a route to the internet

Place them behind a firewall

Force use of a proxy server

Use an access list at the router with the addresses of he Citrix servers and deny the route out..

I've had to use all three different requirements.

We have tried installing jinitiator 1.1.8.16 in /install mode (OAJINIT.EXE) and it does not work for more than one user. Are we missing something?

Hi,

We have exactly the same problem. We have Citrix Metaframe XPe Sp3 FR3 on Windows 2003 servers (have tried 2000 too). We installed jinitiator 1.1.8.16 in /install mode and the first user to login works fine and the applet starts. When the second user logs in they get the following error message:

"The FormsLauncher failed to connect to the existing forms session properly. A modal window may be open in the existing forms session, or your session may have become invalid."

The first user who logged in get a message box up saying:

FND_FORMS_ICX_ID_MISMATCH

I'd welcome any suggestions (besides dont use Citrix)

Thanks
