Hi:

Oracle 9i Personal Edition is certified for Win 98. Can I also install it on Win XP - Home?

this is a shot in the dark, but XP has a feature that lets you run older programs not designed for XP called program compatability- go to programs/accessories and then program compatability wizard.

Never done it, can someone else back me up or advise for or against this feature??

hope this helps. Net Admin.

Overview
========

The Windows XP / .NET operating system is the next generation of the Windows
NT / 2000 series of operating systems. The user interface has a new look and
feel and internally many changes have been made to strengthen its reliability,
availability, scalability and end-to-end management features.

There are three separate editions of Windows XP :

Windows XP Home Edition
Windows XP Professional Edition
Windows XP Professional Edition 64-Bit Edition

In the future Microsoft will be delivering server editions of Windows XP,
these will use the Windows .NET Server naming convention.

The following article describes the compatibility of the Oracle Database
server products with the Windows XP operating system. For information
relating to Windows 9.x refer to [NOTE:65995.1], Windows NT refer to
[NOTE:45997.1] and Windows 2000 refer to [NOTE:77627.1].
