Am having difficulties connecting to oracle via the oracle client it was working before i installed the oracle enterprise manager and diagnostics pack<br>, i have sice removed the oracle enterprise manager and also reinstalled the client, i think the file name tnsnames is causing the problems. Can anyone advise? Thanking you.<br><br>

whether oem wrote over your old one.

It happened to me that installing Enterprise Manager the related Oracle_Home was put in the PATH variable before the Oracle Server one. Inverting the order of the two values everything was ok. Is it your case ?
In order to reinstall the product follow the 'clean machine' instructions in the release notes (I'm working with release 8.1.5).
