Oracle 8.1.7

Hello all,

I have oracle 8.1.7 installed on a solaris 8 server. I am using oracle dba to connect to this remote server. It keeps giving me ora-3114 not connected to oracle error every few minutes.

Any help will be appreciated.

There is a bug in 8.1.7 if SERIAL_REUSE = ALL in setup in init.ora file. This bug is fixed in Oracle9i

As workaround unset the SERIAL_REUSE parameter in your init.ora file which means using the default value of SERIAL_REUSE = DISABLE

I dont have the SERIAL_RESUSE parameter in the init.ora file. Can I add SERIAL_REUSE = DISABLE.
