using cr10, oracle 9i client to hit a 9i db.

trying to use a timestamp field (don't know why the programmers use it instead of a date but they did). i use other fields that are timestamp w/o a problem.

any suggestions?

Create a SQL Expression and CAST the timestamp back to a conventional datetime value. A SQL expression can use the actual database syntax as it is passed in the select line of the query.

Can't recall the exact syntax but I had to do it before from Crystal and it worked perfectly.

Keep in mind that it may be a timestamp with timezone, in which case the conversion is trickier, so make sure you know what you're dealing with.

thanks for the hint but i was not too clear on what you meant.

i kept researching and found a patch on the crystal website that fixed the problem.

if others need it go to
technicalsupport.businessobjects.com and search for knowledge base article c2018836
and download the patch. it also fixes a lot of other things. you can see the others if you search for the file name to download dbex10win_en.zip.

i hope others can use this.
