Ok, I've looked Googled, etc.... and can't find ANY details on what features Optivity has. Per Nortel, you have to talk to a vendor for any info at all. I'd be interested in seeing some simple screen shots or bullet pointed list of what this thing can do.

We'd like to have a tool to help with the administration of our 11C w/o having to become telco techs. We're looking for what I would consider "basic" phone system management functions like: call routing mgmt, call group mgmt, adding/removing users, etc.

Any thoughts on the usefulness of Optivity for this kind of stuff?

thanks

OTM, Optivity, is the right tool for basic telephone programming. You can do all the items you need for the phone sets with the application.

Can be a little quirky (I now open the floor to all those comments about OTM).

If you want to get into routing and any provisioning you have to get into the terminal.

You can go to nortel.com. Look under Products and Services then Products. There's some info on it if you click product literature.

If you haven't already looked at PhoneMaster, visit It is widely recognised as the easiest-to-use Meridian/Succession administration tool in the market. All in English (no mnemonics), point and click, drag and drop.

OTM also has ESN art, or used to. If you are using a TCPIP connection to the switch it will allow maint. as well. We use it for our home 81C and the other offices use the WEB browser for changes to their sites. So far so good. Has broken several people of the cpy command. Yes it is quirky!
