A customer has a o61 setup as follows:
top Module Type IPE--20/0 Part No.NT8D37EC
mid Module Type MER MAIL Part No.NT6P01AA
bot Module Type PE CORE 1 Part No.NT9D11DC
bot Module Type PE CORE 0 Part No.NT9D11DC

Now, we're going to add a module which will contain Callpilot and a Conference Bridge, which should make the meridian mail module absolete.
Is it possible to just switch the mer mail module with the new module? Wanna know of the possibility before I go on a wild goose chase

I didn't know CP came in MOD form, thought only server, anyway. There will be a cut-over point at which it would be good to have either/or. Would not be a bad idea to turn it (Mermail) into an IPE shelf later, for future SUPL, and go a head and add on to the capx for the CP/bridge shelf on it's own.

Did you mean this was going to be an IPE anyway, housing the MGATE card for CP and a conf bridge? If so, I would do what you suggest and replace mermail with an IPE shelf.

pilot for larger switches come in a server box.. the ones for opt 11 plug into that cab..

second half.. for the conf bridge you need a slot in an ipe.. might add one you have the space.. the mermail box is going to be a great paper weight.. you can't turn it into an ipe any more.. used to be able to buy a card cage upgrade. that went away.. in it's current config it's mermail or nothing

From what I have seen the cp and the conference bridge are going to be in a seperate module.
I have my answer, thanks guys.
On another note, i've seen an option61 using the cp in an ipe slot.

the 11 was built with the aml on the backplane to slot 10.. larger does not offer that.. might be possible now that we use ethernet instead of aml

201i works just fine in 51/61/81 since it uses ELAN not aml.
