I'm new to the wonderful world of meridian and have recently aquired an option 11c BUT i'm not exactly sure how to go about getting it up and running.

I've got experience with Avaya ACD/PBX systems but it kansas anymore :)

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Is it sitting in a box and you are going to install it, or is it up and running and you are just going to maintain it?

it's sitting in the box and i'm going to install...

Without experience I think you should call a vendor to install that. Its a little more complicated to get everything up and running than we can provide here.

One suggestion would be to get a copy of another Option11c data. Load you system with the software then load the database you get from the other Option 11 and it will run.

do you have the keycodes? if so power it up connect a screen. if you can get that far you may bring it up.. if it's used then it may boot into service

Alot of mounting and installation required before he can get to the loading database stage, it has to be mounted, cabled up if there are expansion cabinets.

not really, the 1st one i saw booted from a test bench, connected a term and a modem had nortel download the patches. then i took it to the customer site mounted it and the second cab.. brought the mail up.. i never liked reading book on site and still don't

For you to do it John it's one thing, but for someone new to Meridian I don't think they should attempt it without on site help, just my .02 anyway.

i installed my 1st one by reading the books.. of course it was an old nt rls 8 but it took almost a month to get dialtone.. back then that in itself was a major issue.. of course if the switch says you can't add a loop because you don't have enough xpe's.. now i don't look in the box to see if they are something else i need to mount

I installed mine with the books and a good source to call, but I was familiar with Nortel when I did the first one. It was a great learning experience though!
