Hi all,

We are stumped. Our Option11 has stopped working to external calls.

But we found that by "bouncing" the T1 card (using LD 96 and 60) it will temporarily connect to the IAD - but only very briefly (15 or 20 seconds ). This actually gives me time to make a call to (or from the PBX, then talk a few seconds before getting the red alarm (it also alarms on IAD).

(It goes into red alarm even if we don't make the phone call). We can carry on a brief two-way conversation for the length of the call - up to about 10 seconds.

All indications are that both our ISP and the Meridian are set for NI2 (as they should be, and as they have been for quite some time now). (If it was in fact a signaling issue - no call would go through at all, right?)

Ever have an ISP and PBX vendor point at each other? That's kind of what's happening here. But we can make that short call...

We have cbeyond and use their Cisco IAD. 3 bonded T1s. We've tried swapping the t1 card and the IAD (no difference). We've re-seated the T1 card too, and have tried both warm-starting and cold-starting the Option11. Meridian is downlevel (Rel 24 as I recall...I know, don't get me started...)

Anybody seen this before? Your help GREATLY appreciated!

Many thanks in advance!

Have you tried to enable the clock (ENL CC x)

In an above post you stated
Reseated the daughterboards onto a different PRI card
Did you change the Clock source in LD 73

I'll ask the techie about the DCH programming...not sure on that (gets into LDs I don't normally use - but I can try doing some stats, etc. if it's "dumbed down", lol)

I did try enl cc 0 ... message is a little lost amidst the DTA messages but here's the output (looks like clock already enabled (DTI067))...

Many thanks all! ...

Ack! Perry!, no I did not get into LD 73.... (oops?) If I go back to the original card can I avoid that step? Thanks!

Hi Buddy thanks for your reply. - yes, same slot as before. Then a cold start.

Hi Buddy - that was the first thing our vendor tried. Yes, it will loop back OK to the PBX. It will also loop back OK to/from the IAD. But they said that test won't catch problems that are trickier. (I guess I have one of those, lol)

Hi Hawks,

DIS CC 0 / ENL CC0 : I can see it turn the CC light red then green.

Same overall result though. CC light blinks (is that normal?)

Thanks; I guess it still could be the carrier. I've been on the phone with them for hours, they say they're delivering NI2 and AOK from their end...

There is no substitute for the loop back from CSU/DSU to Nortel. If ckt runs clean in loop back mode the Nortel is working correctly. Never seen it be wrong.
Call carrier and report the loop back test results to them .

Good luck

No it should not blink, since you've already changed the T1 card I woulld now suspect a bad Clock Card.

I agree with changing the Clock card, that would be a good step. After that, get a meeting of the PBX vendor and the Telco, so they can both put up loops for the other. Unplug from the back of your PBX put a loop to the Telco if possible, that will check out everthing in line and will tell you if it is internal or not, by working back to the Smart Jack if necessary.

If you are getting a RED alarm, that points to carrier. Also, when the circuit is in Red alarm and DCH is not established then you will be in Free Run. Make sure that the carrier did not leave the circuit in loopback on their end. Ran into this on a site the other night and once carrier took their loopback off, circuit established and clock went back to PREF.

Our vendors are onsite. PBX tech says our carrier is notorious for not sending clocking signal. (Could possibly be clock daughterboard though...)

thanks! More as I know it!

Alright at least you have a Tech there, hopefully he is right and the carrier is not giving a clock source. If so they should be able to fix it fast.

Hi all! Phones are working again, very happy here!

Nobody really knows what fixed it. PBX vendor was reseating the t1 card (which he'd probably done a dozen times already), and the carrier's NOC guys said they were just looking at configs. (what the?)

Did seem to be some sort of timing issue. All solid green now.

Strange - but I'll take it!

Thanks very much for your help!
