Tried to upgrade an Option 11C with 25.40b software to Succession 3.0 this morning. Initial portion of the upgrade went fine (backing up the data), but after the 1st reboot, I received the message "ADDRESS ERROR occured while accessing 0x20800000". Has anyone seen this before? I wondering if it is more indicative of a hardware or software failure. I tried restoring the previous version and attempting the upgrade 2 more times, with the same results.

did you upgrade the Flash boot rom first?

Also, check the pcmcia card for all the software. i have gotten this error, but it was because all the software was not on the card. You can get the software off the web, but you need to have the card formatted in FAT for FAT32 format.

does the system keep restarting?

John

I did upgrade the Flash boot rom first. I'm in the process of checking the PCMCIA card. The system kept restarting (couldn't even CTL-I) until I removed the PCMCIA card, so it is either the card itself or the software. In the meantime I reverted back to the 25.40b version and I'll be trying it again tomorrow morning. Comforting to know that I'm not the only one whose seen this before. Thanks for the suggestions.

Let me know, or post here. I have a good pcmcia card with software and I can let you know what you need.

John

I think you need a special program to program your PCMCIA card, Nortel called this program "PCMCIA Card Programmer" version 9 is available now. The other solution - you must copy sw and format PCMCIA card in pure DOS enviroment.

Here's the scoop. We have 3 technicians, and all of us have been using our own PCMCIA cards to do these upgrades. We have all had successful upgrades, but I thought perhaps something had happened to damage my software or PCMCIA. I went out today and tried another technicians card and received the same failure at the same point. Unless anyone has a better suggestion, I'm going to take a blank software daughterboard out with me in the morning and see if that makes any difference. Any other ideas?

what is the part number on the current daughterboard?

I would make sure the software daughterboard is compatable with 3.0. I ran into that issue when rls 24 or 25 came out before Nortel found the issue.

good luck

What should it be to be compatable? The reason I ask is because the card is inside the PBX and it is in production. In the morning we can verify what the rls is on the card.

Thanks

Thanks for all of the information. Unfortunately, due to maintenance issues at other sites I won't be able to try the upgrade again until next Wednesday. I'll update the thread after we try the new daughterboard. Thanks again!

When you go to ld 135 and "stat mem", do you have enough memory?....the size of the memory will tell you what type of card you have.

I assume that I need more DRAM?

>ld 135

.stat mem
