Well Netversant dropped us (guess they are going out of business) and I am looking for a little help. If anyone is willing to help me with a few programming changes I would appreciate it.
I have limited Nortel Syntax knowledge, so therefore need your help.
If compensation is needed, no problem there as well.
The changes are minor.
1. Need to forward an extention to an outside phone#
2. Need to allow local 10 digit dialing (translation table I assume)
I look forward to your reply.
PS If a call forwarding code is possible for the extention, need to know what the code is or how to identify the code via LD.

You have come to the right place - everything is free on this site.

To forward the phone to an outside number, the CLS needs to have CFXA. If the phone is an analog, the code to activate Call Forward is #-1+the number to forward to.

To allow local 10-digit dialing, you need to add the first 3 digits (the NPA) in LD90. Today, you have 1NPA but for 10 digit dialing you need to add 3 digits only. If they are all in fact "local" you can look up another local exchange (NXX) and add the local NPA so it works like the exchange. This might help:

Thanks for the prompt reply and your help.
I will need a litle more input though, as I mentioned I have very limited knowledge.
I think the only command I ever used was LD60 to reset T1 errors.
Would it too much to ask for some detailed syntax to help me through this?
The forwarding is the most inportant right now.
Thanks again.

Do you have a software feature guide?

There are several places to check to ensure this will work
ld 15 = CFO or CFF?
ld 11 = CLS CFXA
Key xx CFW 16

That should take care of it as long as you can dial the number from the set and you answer the LD 15 question for us.

Call NetVersant immediately and have them give you all the passwords to your switch and applications. You own the equipment and they do not. You especially need the level 2 password.

There are also several places that you can find remote support for programming needs like this site.

Our compensations is a star! lol
ok step by step

it is documented in ld 11, but most usually just go to ld 20.

ld 20
req = prt
type= dnb
dn= phone number you want to change

anything I didnt put on there just enter though, this give you the TN of the phone you want to change.

back to the req prompt again

ld 20
req=chg
type=enter either "tn" or the phone type ie "3904" without the " "
echg=yes (unless this is an acd phone then disregard this post)
item = cls cfxa
then enter to item again
item=key x cfw 12
enter til done

Do you have the level 2 password if not make sure you get that from them before they get to far away.

Ok folks, sorry for the delay.
And most importantly, thanks for all the replies!
And thanks for the PW change tip, but I have been the keeper of ADMIN2 password all along. Had learned about that problem from someone else, so all is good there.

First, I do not have the feature guide.
I only know a few commands in watching a tech work on the switch. I am a lucent guy, so I know very little about the Nortel. Just enough to keep it alive so to speak.
If it evey dies, I will be looking for somoene to come and fix it. (Anyone know anyone in Las Vegas area looking for some extra $$?)

I tried the #-1+the number method and all I got was a fast busy.
I recall once reading someone tha the call fwd code can be defined. Is it perhaps possible that it has been changed from the default?
Another alternative is just to set the forwarding # to the extenion from MML (command line). Is that something that the Nortel can do?
If not, I guess I will need to check CFXA as John has outlined in his post.
I will get connected to the PBX now and give it a try.
Thanks again!!

Ok, looks like I am getting stuck at the key

So John, where you said item=key x cfw 12 this is where I am stuck now. The moment I hit x it dumps back SCH0101
Thanks..

PS I also used CUST 0 which I noticed you did not mention.
Not sure what that does, but I recall always having to use that.

Oh, Thanks, I did not read your sig.
I'll check it out now.
Here is what I did..

Also, is there a way I can remote call fwd this extention now?
Thanks again.

Ok, I also just realized I might have typed the TN incorrectly.
So I redid it and did a TNB dump (thanks to your good resources I downloaded)
Here is the dump, and I think I might have it now (I hope)

So I had somone try to fwd the extention (3006) to the local # and all they get is a fast busy.
I told him to dial #1-9-xxx-xxxx
Is that the corret way?
He does get a dial tone after entering #1 so I think the CFW part is ok. If you look above in the TN dump, you can see what is provisioned.
Thanks again for your help.

In most systems, "9" is a "BARS" access code, but if it is a Route Access code, then there is another setting to change called "Call Forward to Trunk Access Code Allow". That's different than CFXA which is "Call Forward External Allow"

Go to LD 20

REQ PRT
TYPE DNB
CUST 0
DN 9
hit return thru

----------------------------------

Call Forward to Trunk Access Code is set in the LD 15 RDR_DATA

CFTA Call Forward to Trunk Access code allowed
