This issue started yesterday as what appears to be a hardware failure on a software daughterboard (Release 25.40b). Latest is that software audit (LD 44) now passes, and all appears normal on restart from power off or INI (no errors or PROBLEMS FOUND). Cards appear to be enabled within the switch interface, but red LEDs never go off, and there is no communication with any peripheral card in either of the two cabinets. It has been suggested that daughterboard be formatted, that OS be re-installed, and that database be restored. Have sent PCMCIA flash cards to site to allow that, but am thinking that I might be down the wrong path.

Does anything else come to mind that would result in what appears to be a working switch, but not a single phone, trunk, or PRI is functional?

Sounds more like the expansion Daughtercard rather than the software daughtercard

Fiber link to the second cabinet shows established, but the line cards in that cabinet appear the same as those in the control cabinet (red LEDs, appear IDLE through switch interface, cannot contact sets via UNTT).

Local service provider showing up today.

Thanks for assistance. Will post details of fix after trouble resolved.

No, no peripheral card in either cabinet is functional. At the end of an INI, when you would expect the red LEDs to go out, they remain on. If you STAT cards or ports in LD 32, all appear enabled. No phone, trunk, or PRI card works, however (no display, no dial tone, PRI channels disabled and D Channels not up).

If this is the same system that had the software daughter board replaced I would first make sure the daughter board and fiber boards are seated properly on the SSC card. And make sure when you reinsert the SSC it is inserted fully and see if that clears the issue

Thanks,

Buddy

This is that same system, and the tech on site is not very familiar with the PBX. System is on west coast, so it will be awhile before he can try re-seating cards (again).

Have never seen one fail, but am starting to suspect the SSC itself. Am installing that site's database on a system here...if problems follow, will at least know (or think) that it's not a hardware issue.

Oh, this is "daughter gone bad". Get that tech out of there. Find someone that knows this systems. Send them software, CF cards, and beer. They'll get it done in no time. Did you send a replacement daughter board? You mentioned that you can see all of the built TN's. Kinda makes me think that the SSC is not communicating across the backplane. Do you have a spare SSC and cabinet? Have your tech measure power on the bottom of the power supply. If it's fluctuating, replace it. Ah heck, just replace everything. It's only money.

Agree....sending him one of everything, and hoping that service provider resolves issues today.

Resolution -

Seems hard to believe, but the SSC and 2 software daughterboards appear to have failed. Swapped in every possible combination (by remote controlling on-site tech), including security dongles and two different feature and keycode sets. Only 1 of the 3 daughterboards and 1 of 2 SSCs would allow a clean new install.

Thanks for all assistance.

In the future be very careful seating daughter boards. They are tricky and very easy to snap or misalign. I had a similar problem with one that was interfacing with a property management system.
