option 11 sdi/dch

I have a three cabinet Optiopn 11. One cabinet is stand alone voice mail. I need to establish modem access to the voice mail. I will be using SDI/DCH card input. Input #1 of the SDI/dch IS already connected to the voice mail cabinet. SDI/DCH ports #0,2,3 are unused. I assume I will be using one of them for my modem.
mY sdi/dch is plugged into slot #3.MY modem is a robotics 9600 baud 8n1.
Where can I find adequate instructions on hooking up this modem? In other words what book, if any? I have good background with telephony but limited background with option 11. Most of the last 12 years have been spent on Norstar/BCM. I find the standard issue books on option 11 a little inadequate when needing "how to" instruction. Any help I can get will be appreciated.

I do not know this sort of config, but how do you connect to the Mail system now???

I assume it's via a serial link/connector. Connect that link to your modem and your done.

Or do you use a LSL (Log in to the switch and type AX) if so, connect your modem to the switch and your done.

With a standalone EC Mer Mail you have a utilities card in the mail itself. DO NOT use anything in the PBX to try and connect a modem to the mail. Program one of the 4 IO ports on the utilities card for a modem. The mail is tied to the PBX via MGATE card which is plugged into a card slot in the PBX and cabled to the standalone Mer Mail.

Of course you can connect a 500 port for DID to the modem for access in dial up.
