Hi guys

Yesterday I had a complaint of a phone (2008/2616)having a weird clicking noise when dialing outgoing calls. As I was connected to the PBX I got several bug/err codes.

There are 10 units on the card and half of them had the same bug code which I didn't capture. I went to all the locations with the bug code and can confirm that they all have a clicking sound. The other three units not listed are

I've looked through the forum for threads regarding this issue and a solution was to change set. I've tried another set on the bad on and had the same issue. I took the bad set to a working location and it works fine.

Another solution is to change the digital card on the PBX which I've never done before. Is it just a simple swap or will I have to extract the stored data and write it into the new digital card.

Thanks you for the help guys.

I found this old report below.

Problem Description
Too many invalid input messages are sent from digital sets on the second cabinet only of Opt11C. The problem may exhibit itself in the following manner: -

1. Bug4216 printed on the TTY. This message means that there are too many invalid input messages.
2. Unusual activity on digital sets such as keys lamps lighting for no reason, ring cadences altered, crackles on speech & call drops.
3. SSD monitor in OVL 77 displaying invalid FFFF messages.
4. ERR080 - key input from SW unequipped add on module.

Fix:
The fix involves changing a component on the NTDK20DA Opt11C CPU card; the new Release of the card is Rel 9.

What release is your SSC card?

FirebirdScrambler - I'm not sure how to check for the release on the SCC card.

I also just found this old thread
thread798-907557

Someone suggested that the problem is the fiber card. I have a few cabinets in storage that I can swap the part out with? Is there a proper sequence I need to follow when attempting this? I'm up to try anything but keep in mind I'm very green in this field. I'm an electrician by trade so I'm familiar with powering down procedures and disabling stuff before disconnecting.

The SSC card is in slot "0" and is marked as "SSC". There will be an item code near to the bottom.

Fibre cables do give trouble and I also saw references to BSD errors along with your BUG4216.

Here is the report below.

BUG9044 & BUG9045 seen in pdt (Rdtail) pointed to noise on the fibre link cable between Opt 11C cabinets.
Also in History file ERR080 and BUG4126 messages with reference to the affected Opt 11c cabinets were seen, as below.

The crappy thing about my job is that we have 22 sites spread across the city. Our system isn't set up for remote log in nor would I have the knowledge at this time to allow for this. So I'll have to go back to site later today or tomorrow morning. I'll get the SSC and the History prt and reply with that when I have it.

Hey FirebirdScrambler

I'm not sure if this is what you want but the info from the SSC is NTDK20AB RLSE 12. Upon arriving on site here today the staff mentioned that the main phones have a hard time hearing on the recipient end. I'm wondering if this is related to the main issue I was having.

Here is the prt I got

Crumbs!. You have one of the very early SSC versions. You said it was a SSC is NTDK20AB RLSE 12.

Fix:
The fix involves changing a component on the NTDK20DA Opt11C CPU card; the new Release of the card is Rel 9.

You need to replace your SSC card with a later version. There should be plenty of them around if you do a search. Just carefully remove the dongle, Daughter board and Fibre card and replace it on newer SSC card. There might be a firmware update, but hopefully it will boot up OK.

Thanks FBS

welcome to my world. working in the past with old ass tech lol

that being said I'm assuming that I contact my local vendor for the NTDK20DA Opt11C CPU RLSE 9 card.

Do I have to back up and download to the new card????
Is the low receiver during phone calls possible related to this issue??

Any SSC card greater than NTDK20DA should be OK and it's just a case of swapping over the items mentioned in the previous reply. What software version is your CS1000 as I might be able to check it for you.

VERSION 2111
RELEASE 23
ISSUE 35 +

Hope everyone had a nice Easter long weekend. I've found tracked down a new card and it'll be arriving sometime this week. I've read up on the data dump with the PCMCIA in card slot B etc. I'm a bit nervous in doing this step cause if I mess this up I'll be in big doo doo.

Is it absolutely necessary or is the data is stored in another location and just swapping out the card will suffice?

All you need to do is to power down the phone system. However, to be careful that you don't cause more problems, plug in the PCMCIA card in slot "A" FIRST! and login to get to overlay LD 143. key in upgrade and I think you select option 3 as shown below

alright alright alright

I've swapped over the ssc card and had to enable a few phones but other than that the 4216 code has not come up.
I'm very appreciative that I have the support and knowledge you guys have here on this site. I just wish I could find a place that still teaches a course on all this, I find it really cool and I always like a challenge. Reading books and all these threads are great but I was trained old school master/apprentice style, so it's just sad that we are in the period of new tech phasing out old tech.

Thanks for all the help again especially FBS
