Hi, I've heard a little about PCA and have found that we have licenses for it. I'd like to implement it. How is it different from other ways of ringing mult stations or using Call Pilot to forward to a cel phone?

Is there any way to use PCA (or another solution) to pass caller ID on to the forward destination(cel phone)? We are using PRI's.

PCA allows you have calls that ring to your desk phone to ring on your cell phone simutaneously. Not sure what the rules and operational metrics are in regards to caller ID though. I have not implemented it in some time so I am not sure how it behaves nowadays. More than likely it will show up as a call from your company rather than the originating caller ID>

Not a PSTN call, but I have something similar configured in my lab as follows:

BCM 50 --H.323--> CS 10000

BCM dials 6555 which is CDP to the CS 1000
CS 1000 has 6555 on a phone AND PCA to 5555
20 PCAs configured as 5555 with each set to HOT P to 20 different DNs

When I call 6555 from 4008 on the BCM all phones show the BCM 4008 Name and CLID. So the Originating CLID passed to the sets. I would assume this to be the case for PCA set to external as long as you have PRI trunks and your carrier allows you to pass any CLID to them.

Hey Fletch, that's ingenious. I'm passing this along to our vendor to see if they can implement this for us. It might be a bit complicated for them though. Thanks again.

Thanks, there's one thing that books will never teach you. Being in the field for many years and 'having' to make it work.

That's why I love the question "How many features does the Nortel PBX have?"

Answer: "As many as you can creatively think of..." ;-)

Oh, yeah, and for all the super-techs out there....

Why do I nest the PCAs?

My dial plan was NOT set up for 5xxx dialing from the BCM to the CS 1000. Those numbers live on some other lab systems.

So instead of rebuilding a bunch of routing to get to the CS 1000 from the BCM on 5555 (where the PCAs were already built(poor planning on my part while doing another test -- doh!), it was a quick fix to simulate the tandem question.
