Anyone know of a tool to convert the database besides programming the system from scratch? The customer is moving from their OPT 61C to a new CS1000E.

What version of software is the 61c on? I assume it's older then release 23 or you woudn't be asking. I just did the same install and programmed it from scratch. In the documents it does mention you can pay to have Nortel do the sonversion.

Its a little bit of work but easier than rebuilding from scratch......get the pepedog file MV.xls and capture all the data in the existing 61 c. Then you have it in an excel spreadsheet. Then simply cut and paste ( you will have to give them all new TN's but the rest of the info is the same) and use a script to rebuild all your sets for you. 1 or 2 hours on the spreadsheet and the rest is automated!

The Nortel Professional Services team also has built tools for their own use and can be contracted to perform this service as well. There was some discussion earlier to publish these, not sure where that went. In either case you can work through your Nortel account manager to engage those services.

I will agree with johnpoole though, it it a great time to 'flush out the cobwebs'. If the system has been in for a while you most likely have a combination of programing strategies in the system. A fresh look never hurts and is a great opportunity to clean up any nagging software configuration issues left over from past programming habits.

There are a ton of public domain tools available that will let you do an audit.
