Opt 11C interconnecting Solution

Most of our sites OPT 11C are interconnected using ITG -Trunks for internal VoIP Calls. I am tasked with finding a PBX solution other than Nortel for linking another site to our voice network. I am grateful for links and products that can be supported on the Nortel platform at half the cost of OPT 11C. This site just have about 15 users.

The best option fir you is an Nortel BCM50 witch is fully operational usig ip trunks
 
If you already have a Nortel network, why does the new solution have to be from a different vendor? I'm not a fan of Nortel VoIP, but it makes the most sense if you already have Nortel VoIP in the rest of your network.
 
Depending size of remote site, you can try Cisco Call manager or Avaya. You will connected each other using h323, but for your main site with Nortel you will need to upgrade with signaling server. Using H323 connection you will have some problems. I try a fully h323 connection between Cisco and Nortel and i can say that H323 protocol is interpreted differently by vendors. We have solved most of defaults, for Nortel patches needed, and Cisco very strong knowledge is absolutly necessary...!!!
Some cases still fails.

Thanks Guys,the remote site in question just need about 5 lines max. Hence the cheaper/est solution is prefered.

If the new site doesn't need local trunking (except for emergency), you might try the 9150 remote office and put a RLC card in the host 11c. The 9150/RLC hardware is usually available on the secondary market, and you don't need additional ISMs (as long as you have available digital TNs).
 
You have an IP link between to site. Why don't you just install IP phones at remote?
 
9150 remote office is something to look at. keeping the same vendor helps in trouble shooting. when you start to mix and match vendors it's too easy for them to pawn off problems to the other side.

Hi Guys,
i have checked out the Cisco, Nortel and Avaya solutions mentioned the specs. are good. i am also reviewing the mck extenders and teltone Officelink Solo, remote PBX extender products. The teltone solution seem cost effective but is second to a system from centrepoint talkswitch any experiences?

I don't think he needs Asterisk. As I understand it, he already has IP connectivity to his other sites. If he simply wanted to use IP phones, he could do that now. It wouldn't address the need for any analog lines at the new site, though.

Does the new site have to have its own analog lines and/or CO trunks? If not, just use IP phones connected to your current system and be done with it. I suppose you still have the problem of 911 dialing, though.

 
The new site already has 3 analog trunks terminating there, hence asterick and direct IP phones are out.i will continue to explore options since i have about a month to do purchase docs.
 
Nortel's BCM 50 seems to be the best option with a 4x16 mbm. That will address the current needs and also give expansion capacity. Another not-so-preferred option is Norstar with a VoIP gateway. Its a Nortel product as well. Given a choice, I would upgrade the HQ 11C to 1000M and put a SRG50 so that voicemail/call centre from HQ can be used at the remote location.
 
Remember guys he wants to give them connectivity but at an affordable price. You can configure Asterisk to talk to the other switch through SIP and also have the ability to support PSTN lines at that location. Its the most affordable option and its a solid solution.
 
I have been seeing the astrisk referral a lot, hence i must lend the same consideration as given to other products. I would be grateful for opnions on the two approaches below:


OPTION1
main site: Sipura3000 (connected to internal extension or DN and to site ethernet switch).

Connection (main site to Remote): 256K DSL

Remote Site: Asterisk box with TDM400P (any FXS) and X100P (any FXO)cards

OPTION2
main site: Sipura3000s (connected to internal extensions or DNs and to site ethernet switch.

Connection (main site to Remote): 256K DSL

Remote Site: Budgetone 200 IP phones (one per sipura box)

What i would be grateful for is a tech opinion, (i have the cost) on whether either is a viable solution.
 
Consider MCK SNM24 with a DTI card (remote) and SNM24 PBXGateway. If you do not have T-1 or pri at the remote site, you can always put an Fxo channel bank (you might want to see if Mck has a Multiple FXO interface for the remote, but I've only seen a single FXO card)
That will give you local dialing plus transparent users of the main switch, same sets, same features, same voice mail. Local dialing works even in the event of wan failure (Redundancy), at about 40Kb per active call, and at about 3K per end secondary market.
