Help. How do you update the option 11 system to the latest version of the M3905 firmware so that you can download it to the telephones?

the firmware comes with the rls.. an older rls is built to interface with the firmware version that was current at the rls date.. we are on rls 3, firmware is 87.x, we just make sure the firmeware matches the on board... newer firmware does not work right on this rls so we download all the sets.. this spring we are going to rls 5, at that time we will get the latest firmware

Depending the SW rls, you can eighter load a "loadware" file from the pdt or load a new psdl file that required a sysload. These files are accessible from the Nortel Web site

dlesap is correct. Within every major PBX release there are one or more firmware/loadware releases for the phones.

PDT access is available to those who have received the training from Nortel or from a distributor (or who has previously worked at a distributor). The software is available either from Nortel Support or Nortel Enterprise Software Patch Library. Both require access permissions. They are intending to migrate all patches/loadware to the support portal, but until that migration is completed, the ESPL remains the primary portal for distributor access to all software patches.

If you are not a vendor with a relationship with Nortel, or a COAMs customer with a Nortel relationship, you will not get ESPL access.

In other words, you should contact your maintenance vendor to acquire the latest loadware/firmware for your M3900 sets.

Why do you want to upgrade the loadware/firmware? Are you experiencing a problem that requires this, or are you just doing preventative maintenance work?

What good would it be to have a firmware Rls on your phones that your system doesn't support?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

When you load a new firware for digital sets, you actually send it to the call server where it gets compiled to the PSDL file. From there the firmware is distributed to the telephones. This is a manual or scheduled process for TDM phones, IP phones query and pull the latest firware on the TPS server. So the only way you woul dhave FW on a phone not matching the Call Server is if you never ran the FW upgrade commands in LD 97.

He said he had an Option 11, didn't say anything about a call server.

PBX / Call Server are the same as far as FW is concerned. Everything is a call server in 5.00 even of it's a TDM Option 11C Cabinet.

But we don't know what Rls of Option 11 the person that asked the question has, it could be Rls 25.40b.

OK, forgive me for using the term Call Server so generically.

Firmware is Firmware though, and if the user is on 25.40 or 24.24, or 5.00, the telephone set FW for M390x digital sets can be updated via a FW upload and recompile of the PSDL.REC and then downloaded to the 390x phones.

2000 series phones do not have FW that is down loadable.
