Does anyone have the details of a PCMCIA card that would be suitable for use in an Opt 11 for back-up purposes?
Have had a quote from our supplier for a 40Mb card which seems a "little" steep (I'm being polite 'cos I can't print what I first said !!!)

TIA

pcmcia cards for an option 11

You must format the card with win9x or the switch will not recognise the card ..do not use nt/win2k/xp

cards on Rls 24 and earlier can only use 48Meg Card and Rls, 25.08 and higher can use up to a 64 Meg Card.
if you get Type II ATA flash cards, they are usually already formatted

or get a compact card and a PCMCIA reader

I have used 64Mb up to the latest release and it's doing it's work.

You must programme it in win9X, if you format it in 2K or xp it will NOT work. The PCMCIA cardprogrammer on Nortels web will not work either, even thougt it says formatting PCMCIA card. You are able to list what's on the card, copy files between pabx and PCMCIA. But when you try to backup or upgrade you get a failure. Once you have formatted it in win9X, you can use nortels PCMCIA cardprogrammer or copy files directly to and from your computer.

I have a kingston DataFlash PC Card type II, ATA flash storage 64 MB. (DP-ATA/64)

I have recently used it to upgrade several pabx's to succession 4.

Are they charging you $700.00 for the pcmcia card. I have seen that.

If you get the pcmcia card witht the software on the card, you can use that one. I have done an archive and software backup to that same card and reused during an upgrade. I even talked to Nortel and they said I could do that, so I quit worrying about finding another backup card for upgrades.

SanDisk 64mb works great for your back-ups or archives. Nortel recommends to use this pcmia card and the cost is reasonable. If you try to archive Rls 25.40 or 25.40b , there is a patch must be install to archive your data base.
