openssl & perl problem

I am trying to install openssl-0.9.6K1..... with rpm -1 open...... on 4.3.3 - maint level -10

I get the following error

error failed dependencies
/usr/bin/perl is needed by openssl

Perl is installed on the system at /usr/local/bin/perl

Please help.

Have you tried making a link from /usr/local/bin/perl to /usr/bin/perl? (ln -s /usr/local/bin/perl/usr/bin/perl)

I did the link, still fails with the same msg.

Could be the wrong version of perl. Really need more info than that message though.

The perl version was wrong... I had to install perl again

and it worked.
