Openscape 4000 V8 Backup of CCB Hard Disk in Eco Server Duplex Mode

Dear Team,

we need your support regarding a backup process.

We have an OpenScape 4000 V8 R1.19.23 system installed in Eco Server Duplex mode, with three hard disks configured as follows:
  • Two hard disks in CCA (Primary & Backup)
  • One hard disk in CCB (Secondary)
I would like to create a backup of the CCB hard disk. I have already inserted a new, formatted hard disk for this purpose.
Could you please advise on the correct procedure to back up the CCB hard disk?

Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,
Mohammad Ashraf

Afair the Recovery HD on Node 2 (CCB) was introduced in V10, so no pssibility in V8R1 to create it. Also the Recovery HD in Node 2 is not meant to be used as a "Duplex Backup", in other words, lets assume you create a Recovery HD for both nodes and use those two Recovery HDs to boot from: They will never be in sync unfortunately. It was a bit misleading introduced in v10, but the the service documentation points it out correctly in V10 that those are not meant to be used as a "Duplex backup"
In the end those two Recovery HD are each own copies of the actual node and then you would need to use Node Replacement to recover the second one.

In your case i would do a Recovery HD in Node 1, eject it, put it by side and have another harddisk synchronized (RAID) in the Recovery HD. From time to time i would swap and exchange the two secondary harddisks, also in terms of SSD retention... afaik SSDs should not be unpowered too long to not loose their data, or something like this

When you need to disaster recovery you will have to have at least one working SSD and recovery the second node via Node Replacement anyhow.

All of this under the cicumstance that this was all already available in V8R1 software, which i don't remember anymore...
