Hi all,
Can anyone please advise how to create a directory fed by data exported from web based Openscape Assistant (v8)?
Switch is Unify Openscape 4000The current switch I don't mind how manual it is, we were all going well being recorded in a exel spreadsheet until our small pilot grew to 200 then fast approaching 300 end points.

Thanks all!

You could try to play around with XIE (Import / Export Tool) under Utilities in Assistant if it is activated. If it's not activated you have to go in to Application Control under Base Administration - DO NOT just decide to activate everything - it can cause a performance hit on the system. General rule of thumb is if you have no use for something don't enable it. There is also the Report Generator tool that I have only played with a little bit, and if you just need numbers and names you could do DIS-PERSI:NAME,xxxx&&yyyy; In Comwin, where xxxx is the beginning of your extension range and yyyy is the end. You can then copy and paste the output into Notepad or something and then search for and delete all the | characters you don't need. That would give you a generic list of numbers and subscriber names and then you can pretty that up as much as you want.

Don,
Much appreciated I will delve a little deeper.

Cheers

XIE is the way to do it, the PERSDAT ODF is what DS-Win would use to create the directory so that should be sufficient for you.

Holy crap - someone knows how DS-Win works! I bought that in 2014 but no one knew how to integrate it to the 4K. I tried creating my own phonebook in it by importing our data from an old staff directory but couldn't get the fields to line up. Eventually just gave up on it like a lot of other crap I bought back then.... It was supposed to pair with AC-Win to make the operator's lives easier.

Crazy to buy it and not use it. There are two parts to it, getting it syncing from 4K, and making the view screen look as you want it, default does not suit everyone. I guess you have DS-Win 4, but a really old version. Would be best to update it.

I can give it a shot. None of the techs knew it and I gave it a good college try - setting up a custom view and then couldn't figure out what data went in what fields. It has pretty much been tabled since then. I can look and see if there is anything newer on SWS.

You want V4 R6.28.0. Don't take the .2 hotfix unless you want to also upgrade AC-Win and CLA to latest levels.

Be aware of the java change in the latest DS-Wins, a move from Oracle to IBM java (as Oracle now charge for commercial use of java). IBM java is included in the download though.

I would install DS-Win on a test PC (you will need to get the license right for the MAC), sync it up from Persdat, get the default display XML displaying the 4K user data, get the nightly sync working. Once that's done, it's just a matter of tidying up the display so you see only the fields you want. It's very flexible and although it works fine with defaults, if you spend some time on it you can modify it so it works just how you want it, it's worth investing a bit of time on it.

There's nothing to do to get it 'working' with AC-Win - if DS-Win is running AC-Win will just see it.

I did grab the 28 - neither of the hotfixes, and several files from the KB that looked relevant as far as setup. When I got it I would have been lost, but after thaking all the classes I see where it is going with the XIE... I already have systems with licensed MAC addresses so I should be able to use the one I alreay have that is just sitting there - I used to have 4 consoles that were licensed for it, but only 1 of those is left so I shouldn't have any license issues (theoretically!).

Thanks!
