I had a major computer crash which required me to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Home Page. Now I cannot open the web page I had stored on disk backup. I keep getting a message " Server Error. Cannot open file....... for writing".
Am I missing some basic setup on Front Page that will recognize the previous web and allow me to open it for editing and publishing?

Thanks for any help.

Try right-clicking on the file named, go to Properties and un-check read-only under Attributes.

Karen,

Thank you so much for your helpful suggestion. It worked like a charm. Shows the difference between a power user and us amatures! I spent many hours building our company web site just to see it all go down in flames until you rescued me.

Another simple way is to just replace the webshare folder from your backup.
