I recently reinstalled my webcam onto my win2k system. But this is the first time I've come across this problem, and it's quite annoying. Every time I try to open my webcam, it takes forever, but thats not the piss-off. Every time, it shuts down and reboots my entire system!! Someone help me!! Any help at all is much appreciated!

Are you using the drivers specifically designed for Windows 2000, or are you using a win98 driver? If you are using the wrong driver, uninstall it and put the right driver on there. If you are sure you used the right one, I would see if there are any conflicts in the system area in control panel, then if there isn't, I would take the drivers off, and reinstall them again. Also, diconnect the cable that attaches itself to the computer, then reattach it. (while computer is off) Sometimes this works for me.

Yeah, they are drivers for win2k. I downloaded them last night, and it still kicks me off. I found out that one of my usb ports were shot, so I changed it over to my other port. I still get the same error...Maybe I should go with my first instinct and go back to win98...win2k has too many compatibility issues...Thanks for the help!

I don't know what I did, but it doesn't reboot the computer anymore. But what it does now, is it keeps telling me to plug it in. I've tried plugging in a usb mouse, and it works perfectly, but it won't recognize my webcam. Is something wrong with the cam itself? clgx299@earthlink.net

It could quite possibly be shot I had problems with one I had only had it two months and one day windows couldnt use it.I tried it in another computer same thing, sent it back and received a new one.

I have received an email from logitech, saying that in order to get it working properly, I need to download the 4 in 1 usb universal controller, and usb hub control. But see, I found that my camera has problems with via chipsets, and thats what I have in my computer. I have an asus socket a raid motherboard, and the list of drivers in the address they gave me confuses the hell outta me. they all look the same, so Im postponing downloading and installing anything until I find the exact ones I need. If this doesn't work, you all can expect me to fdisk and install win98. win2k has too damned many compatibility issues....I'll keep you all posted s-) clgx299@earthlink.net

Well all I wanted to know was which logitech cam you have so I know to look out for it but as a side note..

You found your camera(logitech) has problems with the (Via)Chipsets and your (asus)Raid? mobo has too many drivers but your tired of win2k's compatibility issues lol. Wow thats funny. So if you go back to win98 that will fix......

Well Best of luck
