Greetings,
Abruptly, I can not open PDF files by clicking on links for them within a web page.
I have to right click to "Save Target" and open from there.
Any fixes?

Thanks,
Jack

SmilinJack,

You may need to enable browser add-on for your reader.
Perhaps diabled,missing or damaged.

Also, there may be some sort of popup stopper or other malware program that you either have to turn off or use their commands. For instance, with popup stopper pro i have to hold down the ctrl button.

This page in the Adobe KB may help.
"When you try to start Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat, the application immediately quits, appears to freeze, or returns the error "Can't find Acrobat Plug in.""

Generally speaking, the problem of AR not opening PDF files within IE is usually resolved by uninstalling AR, re-booting and e-installing AR.

However you don't say if you have Acrobat or Adobe/Acrobat Reader, or both, installed, nor which versions.

For Adobe Reader, go into Edit, Preferences, Internet and untick the box that says "Open PDFs in Browser".

In Adobe Acrobat, I believe it's Edit, Preferences, General.

Open PDF's in Browser" is the default setting by the way. The advantage of having this setting is that you can open part of the document at a time, downloading only a handful of pages at a time until you need them. Uninstalling/reinstalling the Adobe Reader sometimes resolves corruption issues.

It also might be that you installed a pop-up blocker or Windows XP SP2 comes with one for IE. If that's the case, disabling or customizing them might be the other fix.
