I recently purchased a used LP735 projector. There is some dust on the green lens as pinkish dots and blotches are showing up on the screen. I need to know what needs to be done and how I open the case. It is an InFocus LP735. Do I need to remove the lamp before opening the case? Has anyone here opened one of these models?

My bet would be on failed pixels rather than dust.
But rather than look at a white screen fire up a PC connected and show a powerpoint slide; or a DVD player and watch movie.

See if the issue bothers you then.

Well, I don't really think it is dead pixels because only one particular spot shows up just a bit of pink. If i adjust the focus in such a way, i can see all of the spots, and it appears like dust particles would, just magnified. I have heard that pink blotches and spots can be caused from dust being on the green panel since the only ones showing through in these particular spots would be the combination of the red and blue channels. I also notice it gets a bit worse after the projector has been warmed up. I would really just like to know how to open this case properly so I can attempt to use compressed air on the lens internally and see if that makes a difference.

I am responding so that this thread gets more attention.

But to be honest from you description: a dust mote you could focus out of importance. In most cases the setting is infinity, and dust really does not matter. A "pink" or "black" instance would be focusable as an object, if you were missing pixels. And would react to every change in the focus of the lens.

And, as I suggested earlier, you will likely be the only on in the adience to notice.

I see what you are saying. But on the other hand when you say focus out of importance, do you mean that you can focus it TOTALLY out? Because if i focus the projector for optimal viewing, then it does focus the pink spots out in such a way where you can't tell as much. This is why I am wondering if it is dust because if it was in fact dead or frozen pixels, wouldn't it show up MORE when focused. If I go right up to the screen of projection, i can see each individual pixel, but the spots where there are pink, i see no outlines of the pixels which makes me think dust is either on the LCD panel or the innerworkings of the lens.
