I own a HP Pavilion Laptop. I am having a problem with power plug. I am not sure if it is the female end or male but if you wiggle it just right the computer will stay on. If you move the connector it sends a spike and cuts out the video. I have removed all the screws which are visible and can crack the case. But I can't get it open. Is there some secret latch or catch somewhere? It doesn't feel like a screw. And am afraid of really screwing it up. One of my old bosses always said that "if man put it together man can take it apart."

Any info would be helpful thanks

Well, some screws could be hidden behind labels, and the plastic case itself usually has locking tabs that snap together holding the edges of the case. You can pry them apart but it is easy to snap them off if you are not carefull( and even if you are ).
You would be better off having it serviced if you can afford it.

Having it serviced is out of the question. Good points about the labels.

Look under the little round rubber things at the corners screws are sometimes hidden there. Give us the model number and maybe someone will have a like model and have info. Some devices (usually cheap ones) are designed to go together and never come apart. They have plastic snaps that can push together but have no way to release.

I had a laptop where it had little spring clips on the edge of the keyboard. When you presed them on you could lift the keyboard out. Before trying to rip it all apart I'd find out if it is the power cord or not.
