If I use the Windows-E key then explorer is slow to open - 5 seconds or more. If I put a shorcut on the desktop to a particular folder it is fast.

Any ideas as to what to check? I like to use the Windows-E command as it is faster using the keyboard as much as possible.

Thanks,

Petzl

It is understandable that opening a single folder would be faster than opening the entire My Computer tree view as the Winkey + E would do.

A good discussion of the issue and some speedup suggestions: thread779-647815

I might agree with you if I didn't have a shortcut to c:\windows\explorer\explorer.exe /e,C:\ that was opening up straight away.

I will check out the other threads for ideas though......

Thanks,

Petzl
