Hello All,

I wonder if anyone can help me with something my manager has asked me to find out.

He wants to know if it is possible to set an embedded ppt or pptx within a Word document so that when you double click it, instead of it opening in PowerPoint viewer, it opens in full PowerPoint in edit view.

He wants the people he is sending the docs to to be able to open and print it right away without mucking around with Right Click --> Presentation Object --> Edit

Any thoughts? I suspect this is not possible but he wants me to check this out first - I have looked all over Microsoft's KBs and various forums but nobody appears to have asked this question before!

Many thanks in anticipation

I have to say, I'm beyond comprehension... why would you embed a PowerPoint object in a Word Doc, and then expect to edit it from within Word? Why not edit the PowerPoint object directly, and then re-link it?

Perhaps if you can explain what he's really trying to achieve, I may be able to help with a solution...

Best Regards,
Scott

They want to be able to print it (I think) with less difficulty than:

Right click-->Presentation Object--> Edit-->Print

No.

TheManiac - the idea is that our board members are sent an agenda for their board meeting with all the relevnt files embedded.

They do not want to edit the ppt file - they want to print it to take to the meeting, but you can only print a ppt when you are in 'Edit Mode' of PowerPoint. However, double clicking on the ppt run in the PowerPoint Viewer rather than full PowerPoint.

And I have been told that what the board members want is for the ppt file to open in full PowerPoint so they can just click on print.

Clearly they are far too important to be fooling around with right clicks and choosing things from menus ;-)

I have told them, as Fumei suggests, that it is not possible and, if they are able to bear the extra RSI on the wrist and fingers, then the right click option is the only viable one.

I did not say it quite as sarcastically as that though!
