Hi Again,
It's Abdul. I was wondering how to open and close capture files automatically. I'm using
"set capture autostart" which starts the capture as soon as ProComm connects to the port and stops the capture when ProComm disconnects from the port. I would like to have more control than this as far as opening and closing the file. Is this possible? Thanks for taking the time to look at this thread.

The only way you can control when the capture file is opened or closed is by either looking for a string that indicates you want to close or open the file (using the waitfor or when target command) or when some system variable, such as $CARRIER, changes (using the when command).

If all you are doing is looking for a different way to open & close capture files via your script aspect has the command "capture ON" and "capture OFF". I guess you are already using the AUTOSTART keyword version of the "set capture" command. "set capture" also provides you with the ability to control virtually every feature of capture (recordmode SCREEN|FILTERED|RAW, overwrite ON|OFF, file 'FILENAME', path 'PATH', query OFF|ON.

Note that if you are seeking to ensure "automated" action you will definetely want to use the "set capture query OFF" especially if you have it set to on for manual procomm operation.

Hope this helps. DT
