I have a web page shortcut that bugs the heck out of me.

I will be looking at a webpage in the browser, but then I want to open up my webpage shortcut keeping the current browser where it is.

WHen I click on the shortcut, it opens in this browser that I already had open.

Does anyone know how I can make this webpage shortcut open in a new browser when clicked?

Anyone? Anyone?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
Aaron

Unfortunately I don't have that option for a webpage shortcut when I right click. Thanks though:)

There must be a way...don't you think?

what system, what platform? why havent such option? (just dont believe...)

It's Win98. I just tried it with this page and I still don't get that option.

Give it a try and let me know what you get...

Here are the steps I did to create the page shortcut:

right clicked on this page
clicked "Create Shortcut"

when the shortcut was placed on my desktop, I right clicked it looking for "Open in New Browser" That option wasn't there.

Am I doing something wrong? Does NT have that option?

I tried using the shift key but it didn't work on my machine. THen I tried it on another machine. It worked but for some strange reason it opened other programs too. Go Figure!

Anyway, I found a solution that will help my problem:

"Description of the Reuse Windows for Launching Shortcuts Setting in Internet Explorer 5.01"

Excerpt:"new setting on the Advanced tab of the Internet Options properties window named Reuse windows for launching shortcuts"

I just unchecked this box and my shortcuts work great now!:)

Make a Bat file in Note Pad:

@ECHO OFF
IEXPLORE.EXE
Save it as domain_name.bat in the Iexploer folder, and make a windows shortcut to where ever you want it, then give it an Icon by right clicking on it and selecting properties.

The Shortcut will open up in another browser window, not the browser window you have open.

Play around with the bat files property to make it close when the browser window open.

It works for me and I have Windows 98 OP System.

I like AWEinCA's method. I always make sure that the "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" option is turned off. Tracy Dryden
