Hi,
I've got a Windows 2003 file server, which is currently also running a VMWare for a phone server, among a few other things. The machine hosts a number of movie files, which are accessed by old Xbox consoles running media center. Every now and then however, they wil randomly stop playing, and I can see in computer management the files are no longer being accessed. I can only think of this being the server at fault as I've had multiple Xbox's stop playing at the same time.

It doesn't happen very often and I can't think of what the problem is... any ideas?

When you noticed the drives had been disconnected did you happen to notice whether the correct ID was logged into the server? Perhaps someone logged out and back in with a different ID at some point for some reason? This would cause the drive to loose their mappings if the server is now all of a sudden under a different user profile.

Just taking a stab in the dark at it. Good luck!
