Hi

I'm having problems sending email to certain email address it seems though I'm being blocked because of open relay.

can anyone tell me how to secure the open relay so I can send email to these companies?

HI.

* Try telnet to port 25 on your server, and type the following SMTP commands:
=== START ===
helo testrelay
mail from:<spammer@some.where>
rcpt to:<who.cares@out.there>
data
TEST1

.

quit

=== END ===
(Include the blank lines and the dot!!)

* You should block relay in the SMTP protocol properties in ESM.

* Now try again, you should get a response from the server that relay is not allowed.

* Visit this site:

Exchange 2000 has open-mail relay turned off be default.
Check properties of the STMP Virtual Server on the Access tab.

If you have been identified as an relay your IP address/mail server may be blacklisted on
Companies can subscribe to this blacklist and prevent mail coming from you.

On that web site, you will find info about proving you have fixed the problem which will remove your name.
