I think I've followed every legit document out there on how to close the open relay on a Domino R5 server, but I'm still relaying like CRAZY. I've even ran through some tests to determine that I'm in fact NOT relaying. So. What the hell is going on? Can someone point out some things I might be missing? At this point, I'm extremely tempted to just uninstall Domino and start all over on that server. Oh, and one more thing - I'm behing a NATted firewall, with incoming SMTP connections denied.

Someone please help me!! (Thanks!)

Hello,
List what you have found and why you think your relaying. Also, what tests have you run.

Rgds,

I'm sorry for the freak-out post, but after following some documents on Lotus' website about how to close open relays, I was able to close it off nicely. A problem remained, however, and that was the fact that so much mail was still waiting to be sent out through my server, that everything else was mud-slow. I cleared the mail.box of ALL outgoing stuff, and that brought everything back to normal.

In specific response, I'm not sure anymore what tests I performed, other than a telnet/mail test I performed from within the system to the server in question. I also went online to some site that tested for open relays, and that came up that I was closed. But that's all the testing I did.

Secondly, this whole thing started because I opened that server up to the internet via SMPT ports on the firewall, and that allowed the open relay factors to be abused. Once I closed that off, the open relay wasn't even able to be used, so at that point, I was just freaking out because my box was still trying to send all the queued mail out.

So that's all. Thanks for the replies, though!

Howzit!

Been there and have that nasty t-shirt.

If you get bored check out this site

You enter your domain name and it checks to see if you are an open relay.

I managed to get up to number 7 on the most used list...
