How do I open and make sure the port is open on Raptor firewall? Version 6.5 on NT4.0 SP 6a
We need to open port 1352 for Domino off line synchronization.
TIA.
Bob Smith

Hi Bob,

There a few ways you can check your ports. There are numerous port scanners out there for free download. They basically show you what ports are active/open, and usually quite a bit of other things too.

This is one of the many out there, but has a very nice GUI:

Give you a good idea of not only port 1352, but any/all others that may be active.

Good Luck.

Hey Bob,

There are a few steps to follow as per below:
1. Goto protocols and add your new protocol information and port numbers, making sure you select "Display in rule window"

2. Create the network entities of your internal notes server.

3. Create a Rule that allows access from your external interface to your internal interface and select your Notes server as the "Destined for". In the services tab select your new protocol.

4. create a redirect from the external interface to your internal notes server and select your new protocol.

5. check the gsp.cf file in your sg/ directory. if your protocol is in the gsp.cf file then the raptor will be listening on this port. " as per michigan said get a port scanner to double check".

if you have any other problems check the symantec web site for a KB that will walk you through it.

Good luck

In order for the SEF to pass the protocol is needs to be defined in a rule. That will keep the port "open". If it is not defined, then the firewall will reject it.

Under Base Components-Protocols. Make sure that Notes_communicator has a checkmark in "Display In Rules.
Create Network Entities hosts that will be using this rule.
Create Network Entities Group with all these hosts.
Create a rule that allows port 1352 communication between the required servers.
You should specifically list each Domino server that will use this connection. You should not use Universe in this rule.
