I have a problem on a webpage, I know what I want to do but don't know what it is called, so I can't find any help!

Basically I have a small photo of an item and I want the user to be able to click on it to open a box that has a larger version of the pictue and some detailed info but no menu bar, links etc. etc. I see this so often on websites and presume I simply create a new webpage but somehow instruct the browser to display only a border or frame or whatever it is called. I don't think this is a pop-up as if pop-ups are blocked in the browser this type of "boxed" info still displays.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Many thanks

To make a 'fancy' version of what you want that is also possibly more accessible and definitely won't get blocked by any popup blocker try googling for "Greybox", "Lightbox js" or "Thickbox".

Personally I favour Greybox. Very easy to implement.

Thank you both especially Foamcow as Greybox seems ideal for what I want. I have checked the properties of the window.open method and it is easy once you know where and what to look for!! Many thanks to you both again.
