is it possible to open drawings without opening the xrefs that have been attached to that drawing?
Maybe there is some option in Autocad wich I'havent noticed or (even better) some way to do it programmaticaly (VB)
I need only the layout to print it and I can do it whithout xrefs. Sometimes my program crash when path of a xref dosen't match so I would really like to avoid loading xrefs

Thanks for any help

Jaco

Try the open command and when the open dialog box opens, next to the OPEN button you will see a little arrow, click it and select partial open. You should find an option to unload specific items including xref. Try also to recover and/or audit the drawing itself and all its xrefs and try to open it again. Good Luck!

I’m not really sure if this will help but nevertheless here goes:

In the options menu you have the “open and save” folder. In there you can choose “Disable” for the “demand load Xrefs”. I really haven’t tried this but maybe it could help. If not does anyone know what’s his purpose?

Solracesoj, it was the first thing I tried but no result unfortunatelly. I've no idea what's the purpose of this option because choosing it seems not to have any impact on loading xrefs.

NorthShoreRob, I'm opening drawings from an external program (written by me) using an Autocad API (Application Programing Interface), so your solution will not work for me

Thanks anyway.
