I have a couple users that all of a sudden on their XP systems (Office 2003) are unable to open .doc files from IE 6. They can save them to their hard drives, however when they try to open the documents to view them, the website will state downloading then hangs. This is for any website and any .doc file. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Open .doc (word) via IE

In Windows Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Options, and click the File Types tab. Go to the Doc file extension and click Advanced. I believe if you check the box that says "browse in same window" and clear the box that says "confirm open after download" that will do the trick.
