i need to open an excel file in my internet explorer.
what configuration do i need to do in explorer, in order to do this.

i have open a excel file in the web browser before, but i have a machine where the file is not opening.

what configuration do i need to check in the internet explorer, to solve the problem _?

I am having a similar problem as well. We have an ColdFusion application that downloads an XLS document to the user's PC, however we do not even get the download dialog box and the screen just sits there like it's trying to access something. If you find something out, please post the resolution.

in File Explorer, Tools, Folder Options choose the "File Type" tab finde the .xls extension and click advanced options ther you can specify in the checkboxes how those files will behave in internet explorer.

Thanks for the info, but Excel documents are able to be downloads from other websites, so I think there is something else in play with that. I've verified the File Type as well as the IE 6 security settings and everything seems to be OK. I have a feeling it's either a browser issue or something with office. We'll probably try to reinstall both (office first) and see what happens. Thanks again!
