open a self-extracting zip file AND provide the password from app

Hi all,

I'm writing an automation that includes unzipping a self-excecutable zip file which has password protection. I need to start the decompression and then feed in the password.

I need to use java or perl to do this. The only things I've found so far use tcl/tk or assembler (for Pet's sake).

I'd appreciate any ideas or links.

Try to take a look on the winzip-page:

Here you will find some commandline-parameters.
There is a parameter for the password but i don't
know if it works with a self-extracting zip-file.

You could use a batch file to link to the winzip executable and then call your java program ???/

Thanks for the reply.

Hmm. The thing is that once I execute the zipped.exe file, it asks for the password. So if the first line of the batch file is: zipped.exe, it will never get to the second line. It will just sit and wait for the password at line 1.
