hi, I would like to open a Paradox v7 file by using ODBC in VB, is that possible?? As far I know is my current ODBC is support until version 5. Can anybody told me where to get the ODBC driver that can support the paradox v7 files? Thanks....

hichuji,

Recent versions of Paradox (v9 and later) have come (and automatically install) with Merant's Paradox ODBC driver, which supports Paradox 7 tables. (Some details can be found at though pricing is hard to locate on their site. As I recall, it was cheaper to obtain it by upgrading Paradox.)

Also, I noticed that Access 2000 is now able to open Paradox 7 tables, though I have not tested its support extensively.

Hope this helps...

Lance,

Thanks... I actually try to open the Paradox 7 table in Access 2000, but then is unccessful.

hichuji,

Hm. Is there an error code or message? I recently opened a Paradox 7 table with no problems whatsoever.

Can you offer any details that might help troubleshoot the problem? Perhaps even steps to reproduce?

ok, actually the table is password protected, i dunno whether this cause a problem or not? Maybe I can send u the file if u can help.

you need to down load the driver from the data direct / merant / intersolv site (site on footpads reply). you can do this on an evaluation and its ok.

have you actually got a copy of paradox ? beacuse you need the BDE engine which ships with the product, (version 5 or 6 onwards.)--- do you know about the 'net directory' ?????

you can connect vb to paradox but its not easy and its is limited to only one db.

password is bypassed by intersolv driver

give me a shout when you've got some answers and downloaded your odbc driver
