Open 97 Database from a 2000 Database

I'm trying to open an Access 97 database from a 2000 database and not having a lot of luck any help would be great.

Whenever I have done this in the past, 2000 converts the 97 database into a 2000 format automatically when I try to open it, is yours not doing this?

Well, yeah if i try to open it directly. But i'm trying to put the path of Access 97 in front of the path to the 2000 database so it will open access 97 before opening the 2000 database.
