Hi

I have done a backup of my database to a file called
/usr/local/metrix/database_backup using:

ontape -s -L 0

This all worked smoothly
When I tried to recover the database with

ontape -r

I get several initial screens, then asked to continue with restore etc.
But I get a message "Please mount tape 2 on /usr/local/metrix/database_backup"

Can anyone explain to me what this means ???

Any help would be appreciated

Kelvin

I think when you took the last complete backup, the ontape might have set the tape number as 2.

Check the number of tapes you used during backup.

Hi shhanker

Thanks for the reply, I have found out through some further reading that I have to have TAPESIZE set to an amount larger than the instance I am backing up.

On the backup server TAPESIZE = 8000000 kbytes
On the new machine TAPESIZE = 1024 kbytes

so ontape, when I was recovering the backup, assumes there is another tape by the looks of it. When I changed TAPESIZE from 1024 to 8000000 kbytes, on the new machine, the backup ran smoothly.

Thanks again for all your help

Kelvin
