Hi i've been trying to do an ontape archive to disk rather than tape ( this will be transfered to another machine and bulk archived to tape later)

i've created an empty file say /archive/archivefile

and put this path into the tape paramaters with a size of 12gb ( same as the tape)

when i run the ontape its gets to about 40% with a 2gb file and stops as max file size reached.

now i thought linux with ext3 could tape a 4tb file ?

any ideas or am i just being stupid

ta

From what I understand, ext2/ext3 only has support for files larger than 2Gb on systems with 64-bit processors, due to the overhead in converting 32-bit to 64-bit necessary for larger files.
