I have cus with 4 businesses on a Norstar/Nam and all of them have their own AA(auto attendant) greeting table. They want to add a 5th business to the Norstar, and guess what, they what an AA also! The NAM will only let me build 4 tables. Is there a way around this to get a 5th AA?
(All 4 tables answer 0 rings 24 hours a day)
MICS 5.0
NAM 4.0

If for instance you have a Table answer:
'For Hug-a-Mug Coffee House Press 1 or for Boomer Enterprises Press 2'
Digit 1 is a menu where you have a whole 8 more choices to make.. same as digit 2...
So caller presses 1, then hears another greeting which may say ' for the bean dept press 1, for the grinding dept press 2, to find out what's brewing press 3 etc. You get the pict. This is not a new table just menu paths on one table.
There are about 15 menu layers in a NAM.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info! I see if they will go for that.
thanks

Would I be able to add a 2 port startalk or callpilot 100 with the NAM on the same norstar?
If so, what would it involve to do this? I know the basics on how to install one, but never installed 2 on the same norstar. What about feature codes or any other conflicts?

gsxr,
You can do this. Set up per usual and boot up. The system will auto assign codes. To find out which is which, use F9*1 to determine which code between 900 & 999 will be the codes for the second voice mail. Remember F981, open mailbox, and all the others will be different for the second vmail unit. Go through and verify all codes for both machines.

Right. With Flash V1.9 or higher you first dial F903 to accept the feature code range the flash will use. Simply change the default F980-F989 to a different feature code range and then configure as normal.

side bar... what happens to calls on ccr tree going "on 2nd vm "directlty to vm box on first vm or visa versa... what happens on a shut down using 2 vm on 1 ksu...just curios

That's a good question. Things could get very complicated if a user has mailboxes on both VM's with call forward in use. Anybody set this up before, and of what issues should one should be aware? Thanks.

Brian,
Thanks for jumping in there with that bit of info I left out.
WRT to the power outage thing... wouldn't the KSU hang onto the 'handshake' codes for each Vmail unit and simply reaquire them on boot up? Once assigned the unit and codes would be identified to the KSU. ?

PhM

I was just referring to adding a second Flash unit and the initial setup procedure. If the memory caps are good in both units they would retain their respective feature code ranges on a reboot.

I'm still hoping someone can clarify the issues to watch out for when operating 2 Flash voicemails on the same KSU.

Wow Arr and Exsmogger,

Let me get this straight. You guys have actually setup more than 1 VM on a single Norstar switch????

I too have been struggling with this for a long time. Actually, I would be happy to put all users VM on 1 NAM, but need more than 4 AA's to work in my multi-tennant environment. Can I do this with multiple NAMS? How many could I put on 1 switch???

This is really great news!!!!!

Thanks,
Harold

Salo,
Upon rereading my earlier post I find it too vague for comfort so here goes:
Certainly can put two nams on a KSU but why wouldn't you use a Call Pilot? Has better CCR and greeting structures all way round.
So just to be 100% sure I set up a Flash 1.9 on my CICS 6.0 and CP100. Here's what I did.
Power down the CP;
Reset Flash data base;
power up CP;
did a F903;
set range for lower Reported F904-913 'OK'
did F913;
Pswd: 266344
(screen report: SN:xxxxxxxx) OK
KEY: OK
Bilingual?
Primary lang?
Group lists?
GList lead dig:9
System Config 'OK'
Configuring...

get F/report W/F9*5 and F9*1

Next I set up a CCR tree identical to my main CCR and gave it same programming... answer line xx in 4 rings, same options to leave message etc. Then dialed in. It seems that the higher Fcode took precedence. Only when I changed answer lines to 'no' in the F983 table would the F913 table answer.
Suspect there is no conflict in the direction of message to mailbox because the Fxxx that answers only sees its own series of mbox.
Then left msg in lower Fxxx mbox. Msg waiting came up and the MSG call feature directed the call straight to the lower Fxxx coded Mbox.
Next I left a message in lower Mbox and upper Mbox from an outside call. When the MSG key was pressed the screen said that Flashtk Called (next call erase) and pressing next screen said VM called (next call erase).

So it would seem that this works really well and will sort itself out.

Cheers All

Arr,

You are a big help in all of this and for that I say thanks.

I need just a bit more clarification if you could.

First, the reason I would consider NAMs is that they are very cheap these days, especially the copper ones.

Your post seemed to indicate that you had both VM's trying to answer the SAME line and you discussed the precidence in the case of a conflice.

What I do need is more AA's than 4. I would like to use each NAM to answer DIFFERENT trunk lines from the same switch, then redirect to the appropriate mbox or extension as directed. Do you think this will work? and if so, do you think I could put 4 NAM 4.1's on a single MICS??????

I would be willing to put the mailboxes associated with the particular company (tenant) either on the same NAM as its associated AA or any other NAM in the cluster.

What do you think?

Thanks,
Harold

Harold,
Each NAM has four AA Tables, but so does each CP100. I'm not sure at all about putting 4 NAMs/CPs/Voice Mails on a single system. I proved two yesterday. Each VM module would seem to direct calls to mailboxes only within its own group. You could have each table(in the test case 8) answering a different line quite successfully, calls would go to the correct extention and a CFNA direction would go to the Mbox which the set was forwarded to. So if you had say two NAMs or CPs you could have 8 different single CO lines asnwered by the two units.
But with 8 tables, and lets say you have 8 companies you are trying to service, and each company has a 3 line overline, then you are still fine because you are still within the number of Tables you can assign. Don't forget a table may be set to answer many lines.
You will need to put the mailboxes of each company with its associated table/on the same unit so that the AA will be able to direct the calls properly.

Hope this helps

Your next constriction would be channel access. The CP beats the NAMs hands down in cheap channel access ... unless as you say you've got a bunch of Copper NAMs and an older system. If you have two NAMs with 16 channels each you are there!

Harold,
Forgot to mention: there are a whole wac of codes for the voice mails to grab. 900-999. I was only working with the small Vmails which may be limmitted in their range. So my answer is NOT definitive for the number of NAMs on a single system. I will need to hit the book on that one.

Arr,

I am sooo close but not there. I have 2 nams (1 copper 4 channel 2 port and 1 fiber 4 channel) talking to a MICS 6.1

First I clear the MICS completely. F**startup

Then I bring up the Fiber NAM. It assigns F915 and F980-989 by default. So far so good.

Then I bring up the copper NAM. It assigns F916 and seems to overwrite F980 - 989 so nooo good at all.

I think I need to reassign the F's from the first one before I bring up the second NAM but I dont know how to do this! What step am I missing???

F903 does not seem to work with NAMS at all. I have been using F**XFTEST to look.

The VM is 4.105 (I think the latest)on both.

Waddaya think??

I have several more copper NAMS and if this works I am golden.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Harold

I don't think you can put 2 NAMs on one KSU as there isn't any way to reassign the feature code range. Now you could have a Flash on the same system as a NAM because using F903 you can change the feature code range on the Flash. The Flash only has a max of 48 mailboxes and 180 minutes of storage, but it may be doable for your needs.

Harold,
You don't have to clear the ICS. I started with one programmed CP100 and a defaulted ready to initialize Flash. I powered down both vmails, xftested and cleared all codes, brought up the CP, checked its code assignment F*1, then powered up the Flash, did F903 and chose the alternate range for the Flash. F903 will only work on a defaulted platform which is ready to be initialized. I am quite sure the NAMs work in the same manner as to get Cinetech's ACD programs to work on new Vmail releases you must now have two NAMs in place.
It is possible that the old copper NAMs will not give you the range option.
Perhaps another tech out there will know if/when the range features were first introduced.

Cheers
