Hi,

I'm using an AIX 5.3 server which has storage space coming out from a EMC symmetrix box. I have a few RAID-5 disks provisioned to the server and they have been expanded and being used. Now, theres a new requirement that the disks which were provided need a DR setup and hence, these RAID-5 disks need to be converted as R1(Source) which needs R2(Target).

Now, If I create a SRDF pairing online for these devices, would it have an impact? Or Do I have to create new RDF LUNs and migrate the existing data to these LUNs?

The beauty of Symmetrix "expensive" box is that everything can be done online.
You don't have to migrate data, but impact depends on SRDF configuration, cache, link, etc...
