We're having a bear of a time. We are attempting to load HP-UX 11.0 on a K580 in our lab. We "wish" to use the K580 as an Ignite Server, as well as be able to use Online Diagnostics to be able to test additional cabinets we receive in the lab. We do a complete install of the OS. We get to the point of the install where we User Intervention asks for the HP-UX 11.0 Support Plus CD. We insert the CD and it goes through a bunch of loads. All of a sudden, we start seeing some errors and warnings in the list, and then a very large spell out of FAILURE shows up on the screen. Considering we are primarily IBM guys, you can imagine we are having a tougher than expected time making the transition to HP-UX. I have heard of a certain manual or something similar called "The Bible" for HP-UX. Anyone have any info on this? Or does anyone have a good resource for step by step install intructions as well as solutions for errors and warnings? HP's site isn't the most helpful I've seen.

Hey there
Being a HP-UX guy and doing some stuff on IBM OS/400 I find it interesting, I also am having a tough time, but I think the conversion is more difficult coming back the other way as such.

I think I understand what you are trying to do, but for now I suggest that you keep it simple during the first installation, for example just install the Core CD, and when you have set up the machine etc then install the Support CD and Online Diagnostic's.

This way you can isolate the problem rather than during a time of massive change.

With regards to the Ignite Stuff, there are some very good manuals on the including Ignite stuff.

Let me know if you need any more information.

Best regards

If need be, pull out all peripherals including all but one
cpu all cards and memory except the two you need to start the system. Do your install if you receive no errors then the problem could be with a peripheral. When the system is all loaded, if you have the time, shut it down again and add peripherals two at a time then restart the system to see if you receive error messages. Keep this up to find the probelem.
